I’m still not sure how five years went by so quickly. When I look back on my time at Baylor, I’m overwhelmed by God’s provision through it all. I’ve made SO many great memories and friendships during my time at Baylor, but there were some challenges I faced along the way. It wasn’t always easy, but God has used so many tough situations to grow me, shape me, and change me.
My church sang this song, “Honey in the Rock” recently, and the lyrics really spoke to me.
Water in the stone
Manna on the ground
No matter where I go
I don’t need to worry now that I know
Everything I need You’ve got
There’s honey in the rock
Thirsty for the living well
Only You can satisfy
Sweetness at the mercy seat
Now I’ve tasted, it’s not hard to see
Only You can satisfy
There’s honey in the rock
There’s honey in the rock
There’s honey in the rock
Yeah
Bounty in the wildеrness
You will always satisfy, yeah
Water in the stone
Manna on the ground
No matter where I go
I don’t need to worry now that I know
Everything I need You’ve got
Purpose in Your plan
Power in the blood
Healing in Your hands
Started flowing when You said it is done
Everything You did’s enough
You keep giving, keep providing
I have all that I need
You are all that I need
I keep praying, You keep moving
I keep praising, You keep proving
I have all that I need
You are all that I need
You keep giving, keep providing
I have all that I need
You are all that I need
I keep praying, You keep moving
I keep praising, You keep proving
I have all that I need
You are all that I need
I have all that I need
You are all that I need, yeah
Water in the stone
Manna on the ground
No matter where I go
I don’t need to worry now that I know (I know)
Everything I need You’ve got
Purpose in Your plan
Power in the blood
Healing in Your hands
Started flowing when You said it is done (Jesus)
Jesus, who You are is enough
(There’s honey in the rock, ooh)
There’s honey in the rock, ooh
(There’s honey in the rock)
To trust in You Jesus
Oh, how sweet, how sweet it is
To trust in You Jesus
Oh, how sweet, how sweet it is
To trust in You Jesus
Honey is actually referenced a lot in the Bible. One instance is in Psalms 81:16, which is where the author of the song gained inspiration:
“But you will be fed with the finest of wheat;
with honey from the rock I will satisfy you.
Honey is a sweetener. And I think one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned during my college years is that sometimes it’s the hard times in life that end up yielding the greatest sweetness.
My time at Baylor was sweet. I made so many sweet friendships that will last a lifetime and sweet memories that I’ll never forget.
This song is also an encouragement to my future. Leaving college, moving to a big city, and starting over again is scary, no doubt. But, “I keep looking, I keep finding, You keep on giving, keep providing.” I know life won’t always be easy, but I also know that God provides. There’s honey in the rock, water in the stone, manna on the ground no matter where I go.
Have you found your honey?
can't forget the graduation cookies 😉
